Discovery Homework

Homework will be sent home in your child’s book bag with a Dojo Message detailing what is expected.

For our Reception children homework will consist of :

  • daily reading – a phonically decodable book and /or a coloured banded book
  • practising newly taught graphemes – Sound Folder Work
  • practical maths challenges from Autumn Term 2

For our Year 1 children homework will consist of :

  • daily reading – a phonically decodable book and /or a coloured banded book
  • weekly spellings which are sent on a Monday to be tested the following Monday
  • Numbots for maths
  • occasional research linked to topic work

We thank our parents for their support with homework; it really does make a huge difference. It is also great to develop that ‘work at home’ ethic early on.  Please do not hesitate to contact us via Dojo if you have any questions or queries.

The following clip will help with articulation of  phonemes.  It’s always a good idea to get your child to look in a mirror as they are practising so that they articulate correctly.
