Friends Of Hoole St Michael

‘Friends of Hoole St Michael’ is an organisation of staff, parents, carers, grandparents and members of the local community. Its role is to encourage closer links between home and school. Our PTFA, over the years has raised a great deal of money which has been used to enhance learning in and out of school. Involvement in the PTFA also provides a great opportunity to socialise! Fundraising events, such as the summer fair, provide an opportunity for parents, staff and pupils to get together.

Please get involved. Some of the roles are time-consuming, although also rewarding. If you can’t commit to a big job, look out for things you can do less frequently (eg running a stall at the summer fair, baking for a cake sale). And you can always support PTFA events by simply turning up!

Examples of items we fund:

We regularly fund a variety of resources, experiences and facilities. We work closely with school staff and pupil groups to ensure the pupils are getting the maximum benefit from our funds.

We fund the following on a regular basis:

·         Transport costs for school trips – we pay the cost of the coach hire in full to enable every class to experience at least one school trip per year;

·         New starters’ gifts for the Reception classroom, such as the sofa used in the reading corner;

·         A gift for each child from Father Christmas when he visits on Party Day;

·         Gardening equipment and plants;

·         A leaving gift for each of the Y6 pupils.

In recent years, we have also funded the following features, to name a few:

·         A new playground at the back of the school to provide more playing space and enable pupils to take part in a variety of sports;

·         A new potting shed, allowing Gardening Club to take place in all weathers;

·         A contemplation bench in memory of former pupil, Georgina Callander.
